Dear Reader

Flederhaus, 2011

Out of the airplane, straight into a hammock! When we meet Dear Reader’s Cherilyn MacNeil on a sunny morning in late August, she arrives directly from the airport, coming from her new homebase Berlin. The South-African songwriter is travelling to promote her new album „Idealistic Animals“, and we are lucky to get to meet Cherilyn before an exhausting day of press duties. And what would fit better to start such a day than a house full of hammocks? The temporary art installation „Flederhaus“ in front of Museumsquartier comes handy as a location for a relaxed and beautiful session with charming Cherilyn. We head up to the top floor of the wooden construction, where she performs the amazing unreleased song „Traditional White“ with a nice view over Vienna, and then go some stairs down for a great, sun-kissed rendition of „Mole (Mole)“ from the new album. Cherilyn then has to move on to other appointments, while we enjoy some moments in the hammocks, with a fabulous acoustic pretaste of Dear Reader’s new album still in our ears.
