Milkywhale
Skautahöllin, 2016
The ice skating rink – decorated with a shiny disco ball and a lush Christmas tree – is the perfect setting for a band like Milkywhale. With their matching outfits singer Melkorka Sígríður Magnúsdóttir and electronic producer Árni Runar Hlöðversson (also known from FM Belfast) look like they are up for some pair skating. But the Iceland duo has come to perform one of their high-energy, catchy pop songs instead. While Árni stoically turns knobs and pushes buttons from his magic suitcase, Melkorka’s heartfelt singing merges into sweeping dance moves. Milkywhale are known for their infectious and joyful performance. So it does not come as a surprise that after the recording various kids kept dancing on the ice.

Skautahöllin
It doesn’t come as a surprise that ice skating is big in Iceland. Reykjavík’s main ice skating hall is Skautahöllin, which frequently hosts national and international sport events. Otherwise it’s open for the general public every day and a welcome destination for family trips.
